You may think that the above verse is very easy to understand, and you may simply agree that we are all the work of His hand, but don't go so fast. There is much more to be understood in those few lines, this is not simply about a potter and some clay. It is about you and me and our relationship to the Potter, our heavenly Father.

While the title, “Father” is found many places of the New Testament, it is found in very few places in the biblical Old Testament. God was not easily understood by His people as Father before the birth of Jesus Christ. He longs for our relationship with him as He longed for His people to know Him in Isaiah's day as Father. The metaphor found in this verse is what this web site is all about. Discover the depth of that relationship while learning what the potter's hands do to the clay, and what the various phases are in the forming of a vessel. Learn the way clay can respond to the potter's hands.

The Process of being made into a vessel requires several major phases. They are Centering, Opening, and Lifting. It is in this Process that you will find much of the information that will be the foundation to build upon for what follows in the various pages of this site.

In Lessons from the Potter you will look at what happens when the clay is resistant to the Potter's hands. What are the attitudes within that makes one resistant to Him? What if there is only one little area of resistance in an otherwise soft piece of clay. Can a vessel still be made? Can you hear the voice of the Potter, or do you have things “upside down” in your growth as a vessel?

In Lessons from the Clay, you will see how Marilyn applies these insights to her own life. Read about her explanation of how the Potter's hands Centered her, or when she had the “pot upside down” in her life. Discover what it means to have no water on the clay and what that meant to her growth, and how Opening and Lifting came about for her to be used as vessel of purpose.

In Lessons from the Studio other metaphorical inspirations and everyday tidbits of information performed by a potter will reveal more about our relationship with The Potter.

The Potter's Shop will show various items for purchase. A variety of simple bowl shaped pieces of pottery, each one unique in design and signed and incised with the scripture reference, Isa. 64:8 on the bottom, are meant to be “Vessels of Remembrance” for those who would like a piece of pottery to hold a memory of a new insight or meaningful lesson learned. The larger pottery pieces were made while Marilyn was ministering at various places and brought back to the studio to finish. There will be other pieces added from time to time.

The purpose for this web site is to pass on to others many truths from a potter who has been involved in this creative expression for over forty years, and who, for over twenty-eight years, has spoken as a keynote speaker for conferences, as a speaker for women's retreats and church services, as a woman sharing her life and story as a potter to many fellowship groups, schools, and even to a teen camp around a bonfire at night.. She is simply a potter who knows The Potter, and is a willing vessel for Him to use wherever he desires.

There are many wonderful teachings on this subject, as well as web sites. It is hoped that here you will find here some new insights into your own life and relationship with the Potter as your heavenly Father. It is hoped that you will enter this site with anticipation.
