Centering Opening Lifting The Fire

The very first step in the process of making a vessel on the potter's wheel is called “Centering”. That means that the hands of the potter press into the lump of spinning clay so that every particle of clay is moved and realigned, no longer struggling against the hands but freely spinning under the hands of the potter “at rest”. This is true surrender, peace with God, the Potter. No vessel can be made unless it is first centered. No life can start its journey in finding its purpose unless it is first surrendered to the One who made it, the Father

This lump of clay that is centered is made of clay that is just the right consistency. It has no lumpy areas of resistance, no hidden air pockets, no harder spots, but is consistent all the way through, and is very responsive to the Potter's touch. It is now ready to be pressed into for the next stage in its making, Opening.
